The Keratin Revolution Treatment® may also be known as a Brazilian blowout, Brazilian blow-dry treatment, or a Brazilian Keratin treatment a must have favourite for the A-list celebrities.

As you may have already heard the Keratin hair treatment is the life changing miracle in-salon treatment if you suffer from unruly, damaged hair or hair prone to frizz.

It is a Hair Smoothing Treatment ( NOT a straightening treatment like Japanese Hair Straightening, more on this service can be found on our website under the Perm, Curl & Texture services pages) that uses Keratin proteins and other chemicals to smooth and improve the condition of hair for up to 3 or 4 months. The Keratin Revolution Treatment® at Collective hairdressing is an in-salon service carried out by our highly trained team who are the first and only certified Keratin Revolution® Specialist Salon in Newcastle upon Tyne city centre.

It is a Nano-intense treatment that uses keratin proteins to smooth, recondition and protect the hair fibres from water and heat damage.

One of the main advantages of the Keratin Revolution® Treatment is that it is formaldehyde free and superior to the Brazilian blow out which generally contains a chemical mix of formaldehyde and keratin proteins.

ABOUT THE IN SALON TREATMENT

• The process takes from 120 minutes upwards depending on the length and thickness of the hair

• First, the hair is prepared with its very own clarifying shampoo and this will be left for 5 minutes before rinsing

• The hair is then blast dried to allow for maximum absorption of the keratin infused treatment lotion

• The lotion is applied section by section and once completed heat is applied for 30 minutes

• After 30 minutes the hair is rinsed between 20 to 30 seconds to remove the excess Keratin

• The hair is blow-dried smooth and then ironed straight in order to seal the Keratin protein within the hair

Once the Keratin hair treatment is completed there is no down time!

Once allowed to rest for around 20 minutes your hair can be washed unlike the Brazilian blow-dry, One of the other major reasons we only use and recommend the Keratin Revolution® treatments.

Apart from the formaldehyde the other major disadvantage of the Brazilian blow out treatments are after they are completed you need to stay away from water for the following 4 days and avoid anything that would cause kinks or bends in your hair. This means you’ll need to avoid washing your hair and wear it down without tying it on a ponytail, wearing hairbands or glasses on your head or putting it behind your ear. If despite all of this your hair develops a bend or kink, just use your straightening irons right away to straighten it. After 4 days, you can do anything you want with your hair.
